  • Ashtanga Yoga is a traditional practice originating from India, based on Patanjali's "8- Limbed" yoga. It emphasizes a breath-based movement system designed to purify the  body and mind, elevate the spirit, and promote calmness. This practice is suitable for all  individuals, regardless of body type or experience level, but requires commitment and  time to see benefits. 

  • Recommended Frequency 

    • Beginners: Aim for 2-3 times per week. 

    • Intermediate to Advanced: Gradually increase to 5-6 times per week.

    • Rest Days: Traditionally, practice is not held on full moon and new moon days.  

    • If you are menstruating, it is advised to take a break during your period.

    • If you are ill, practice at home or take rest, especially if you have a fever.

  • Mysore-style Ashtanga is a self-paced practice where students learn the sequence  individually within a group setting. This allows for personalized instruction and is ideal  for beginners. Students can arrive and leave at their convenience during the class time,  practicing at their own pace.

  • No prior knowledge of the Ashtanga sequence is required to attend a Mysore-style  class. Beginners will start with basic postures and gradually learn the full sequence with  guidance from the instructor. Some knowledge of the primary series is helpful before  attending a led class.

  • Classes typically begin with a chant for a led class, followed by sun salutations,  standing postures, and seated postures. Expect to sweat and engage deeply with your  body, as Ashtanga is physically demanding.

  • No, the window of time is given for you to decide when to show up. Depending on how  long your practice takes, will dictate what time you need to start. Mysore ends at 8:30am.
